Raiders Ram Car into Sharnford Post Office to steal safe
Raiders used a car to ram their way into a village post office to steal its safe this morning.
The shop, in Leicester Road, Sharnford, near Hinckley, was targeted shortly before 4am.
The intruders used the car to smash the shop's front door.

Burglar jailed for 'astonishing' six-month crime spree
A PROLIFIC burglar who stole high value cars has been jailed for six-and-a-half years.
Dale Melia, 24, of Grantham Street, Coventry, pleaded guilty at Warwickshire Crown Court to 28 counts of burglary, six counts of theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of attempted burglary, one count of driving while disqualified and one count of driving without insurance.

New Playground on The Park now open
The new playground equipment has now been installed on The Park. Andy, from the developer Brampton Valley Homes, officially opened the playground, which proved to be a draw for the many children attending the Fete.
The new play equipment on Poors Meadow, including accessible exercise equipment for all ages and abilities, is now being installed.

Sharnford Fete a resounding success
Sharnford Fete was a resounding success on a dry Sunday afternoon. The theme 'SPACE' gave plenty of opportunity for both children and adults to go mad with their fancy-dress. The barbecue, always a favourite, manged to sell every burger.
A big thank you to the Fete Committee for organising a brilliant show.

Complacent Driver killed grandad after hitting his bike at 5 mph
A man driving home from work knocked a grandfather off his bike, killing him.
Jonathon Wilkinson was only travelling at about five miles per hour in his Vauxhall Astra when he knocked into Paul Naylor's bicycle at a junction.
After carrying Mr Naylor along on his bonnet for a short distance he stopped and the 66-year-old cyclist slid onto the road, banging his head and suffering a severe injury.
